Financial company moves to office in Rooksbridge, Somserset

KD Group, a Somerset company which specialises in bridging lending within the commercial, rural and development sectors, has moved into a new office at The Stables Business Park in Rooksbridge.

Led by Karen Philips, the company was established in 2015 and has to date provided more than £30m in funding to UK businesses. These have been mainly used for commercial property development, and the funding amounts have typically been between £35,000 and £1.5m.

Philips says: "We started in the Highbridge Enterprise Centre, which is an excellent facility for start-up businesses.

"The business and the portfolio has expanded beyond expectations over the last 18 months and the next step was a move to larger premises, which will give more day to day working space, dedicated meeting rooms and unlimited parking.

"The new location is extremely convenient – just off the A38 and a few minutes from Junction 22 of the M5.

"The Stables Business Park will also accommodate future growth plans: the wide range of office suites available, together with the Park’s very flexible approach to leases, means that we can readily move to larger premises here as the business expands."

As your company grows, it becomes a steadily better idea to introduce some automation into your time and attendance management processes. For example, our clocking terminals remove the need for (and the risk of) employees reporting their own hours, because every entrance and exit is automatically recorded and sent to the central system. Managers can check the times on the software, which is easier than shuffling through bits of paper, and the data can be quickly and easily exported to all leading payroll programmes.

It is very common for a growing company to forget about “back-room” tasks such as processing payroll. The phrase “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it,” is completely wrong here. If you ignore these tasks and never investigate how to improve and optimise them, eventually they will “break”. This could mean your staff making errors in the payslips due to an overstuffed workload, or unscrupulous employees taking advantage of lax processes to commit time fraud and take home money that they didn’t actually earn.

So the earlier you can maximise efficiency and accuracy in these processes, the better off your business will be in the long run.
