New hotels could suffer from inefficient and inaccurate timekeeping

Over the month of August, Premier Inn intends to open around 600 hotel bedrooms. This is a mix of brand new hotels and extensions to existing ones.

The new hotels are located in Gloucester, Sevenoaks, Staines upon Thames and Hayes in Greater London. The hotels getting extension are located in Liverpool, Plymouth and Rochester.

Together, the developments will add a total of 573 new bedrooms to the Premier Inn estate, creating 180 permanent jobs.

Jo Moon, property acquisitions director for Premier Inn and restaurants at Whitbread, said: "Adding four new sites and three extensions to our network in a month is a testament to the hard work of our property acquisitions, extensions, construction and new openings teams. It also demonstrates the benefits of Premier Inn’s flexible development requirements and what can be achieved through close collaboration with our development partners, host local authorities and local communities.

"We remain extremely active across the UK and are continuing to look for more great sites that match our target locations nationwide."

If you are a company which still monitors its employees’ working hours using timesheets, then a large number of new staff members such as Premier Inn has generated will put a large amount of strain on head office tasks such as payroll processing.

Getting employees to retrospectively record their hours worked directly onto paper is not only open to fraud and mistakes, it also makes room for human error further up the chain.

Managers have to collect all the timesheets – what if they lose them? If managers are supposed to verify the timesheets as they collect them, then that will be very difficult for a new manager in a new building with an entirely new staff.

Whoever need to transcribe the sheets in order to input hours worked into the payroll program is likely to fall victim to employees’ bad handwriting and forgetfulness.

Thankfully there’s an easy solution. When employees clock in using our clocking terminals (these accept smartcard or biometric data) the information is recorded by the software and can be exported straight to your payroll software.
